Kootenay Employment Services has hired Recovery Advisors for the Creston Valley‐ Kootenay Lake region, Cranbrook‐Kimberley and surrounding areas.
Amy Hotchkiss and Kris Dickeson are ready to hit the pavement and assist businesses in connecting to existing supports under the ETSI‐BC Rural Business and Community Recovery Program.
Hotchkiss is based out of the Creston Valley‐Kootenay Lake and brings a background in international economic development.
“I am looking forward to meeting local business owners and hearing firsthand the challenges they are facing,” she said. “The Creston Valley is overflowing with potential to be a place where people can afford to live and work. We hope to help the business community and help them grow.” ....

Over $50k granted as CFKR grows endowment funds
The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) has recently completed its largest ever annual granting program, allocating a total of $53,300.19 to 41 community projects/initiatives.
In addition, a total of $32,730.77 has been re-invested in the principals of 17 endowment funds, to grow future granting.
“The Community Foundation is thrilled to support the excellent work of these local non-profit organizations that contribute so much to each of our communities, especially during the current pandemic,” stated Lynnette Wray, CFKR Executive Director.
The Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies (CFKR) provided 2021 grants to a wide range of community projects and programs. All grant applications were reviewed by CFKR’s local volunteer committees, with granting decisions ratified by the CFKR Board. ....

Springtime Spruce Up begins April 18
With the return of spring, the City of Cranbrook is asking residents and businesses to join us in our annual Springtime Spruce Up Cranbrook campaign– a community clean-up and beautification initiative.
Our Springtime Spruce Up 2021 campaign, April 18 to 25, is to encourage business owners and residents to take 20-minutes and spruce up the area around their business or home. Twenty minutes can make a big difference! A clean and litter-free community is one of the ways we can help take care of our planet and encourage a sense of pride in our community.
Through the effort of many volunteers, we will work to remove litter and debris from our parks, the creek, our neighbourhoods, streets, schools, and public areas including in and around our many businesses. ....

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election of Directors of the Board for the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce will take place Wednesday, March 17 via ZOOM.
The purpose of the meeting will be to conduct the business of the AGM of the Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce as outlined in the bylaws.
The agenda will include the election of the board of directors, presentation of the 2020 financial statements and the business of the organization as required.
