Northland firefighters and dentists teamed up this year to ensure that families who have experienced the devastation of a house fire still have a Merry Christmas.
The Cloquet Area Fire Department worked with Carlson Orthodontics to collect over 100 toys.
Carlson Orthodontics collects toys year-round from patients who have broken or lost retainers and want a new one. Instead of paying the replacement fee of $225, patients can donate a new toy!
After a year lots of new retainers, they had over 100 toys all of which were donated to the Cloquet Area Fire District.
This time of year, there s a little bit of uptick in house fires, and we see a little bit more of that in the winter time. And to have these toys on hand in case we go to a fire, the family loses all their belongings, it s a heartbreaking thing. And if we can give those toys to some kids, just to put a little smile on their face to help them ....
