Super Rugby: Crusaders lose wing George Bridge for the remainder of season

Starting with Saturday night’s clash against the Reds in Brisbane, Bridge will miss the Crusaders’ last four regular season matches of the trans-Tasman competition, and the final – should they qualify for it.
The Crusaders will also be without captain Scott Barrett for the clash of the Super Rugby Aotearoa (SRA) and Super Rugby Australia champions.

Super Rugby: Crusaders forwards coach Jason Ryan re-signs through 2024

“I feel privileged to work alongside such a dedicated group of players, coaches and management in an organisation that is so driven to be better every day. I’m especially looking forward to working with the new crop of Crusaders that are coming through,” Ryan said in a statement.
The bloke who played 180 games for Christchurch club Sydenham has put together a heck of a CV since teaming up with Robertson, initially as Canterbury’s scrum coach, before being promoted to a full-time assistant.
They won three national provincial titles with Canterbury, and have won five straight Super Rugby titles since 2017. ....

“He s really made the most of his opportunity.it s pretty special for him to go on and have higher honours potentially. He fronts in games like this, finals, that s when the All Blacks selectors will be really looking at it. Really happy with how he s gone, he s leaving his mark well there,” Ryan said.
“I just look at work rate, first and foremost [when scouting]. I back myself to coach them how to scrum, but if they ve got work rate and a real hunger to get off the ground and work hard in the first few steps, it s a pretty good indicator.” ....
