The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called to Lear Road at around ten minutes to two on Wednesday afternoon.
Outgoing Fire Chief Sylvain Gauthier describes the scene.
“Upon arrival the entire delta side of the structure was fully involved and members of the Silva Gro Nursery were trying to control the fire with extinguishers. As soon as we arrived on scene we set up a fire hose and started attacking the fire.”
Gauthier says the trailer was too far gone to save.
“When I came on scene the entire delta side. So basically the trailer is about 60 feet long, so if you are facing the trailer, the right side of the trailer was fully involved.” ....

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called to a blaze at the Tolko sawmill last night.
Fire Chief Ron Richert said they were dispatched at 11:40 and upon arrival, they had a fully involved structure fire.
“We were on scene for approximately five to five and a half hours,” Richert said, ‘We had four pieces of apparatus with a total of 16 firefighters”.
Richert said it was quite a large fire that engulfed the whole one end of the mill causing extensive damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. ....

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department has received a generous donation from a local business.
Assistant Fire Chief Ron Richert says AUL Industrial Repair donated over 5 thousand dollars of rope rescue equipment for industrial and embankment operations.
He says this type of equipment isn’t cheap and comes in handy, especially during low bank operations..
“It’s just to that level where it’s just steep enough that we don’t want to risk our people falling down so we’ll do rope rescue, and even getting a person out for a low bank rescue, we’ll put them in a basket or a stretcher and bring them up.” ....

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a house fire just after three o’clock on Monday afternoon.
Fire Chief Sylvain Gauthier.
“Quesnel Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 520 Anderson which is right beside the Kakalots Restaurant. Two storey structure. On arrival the structure was fully involved, and all occupants were out.
Gauthier says they received multiple 9-1-1 calls.
He says it is too early to say what caused the fire or where it started.
They responded with three fire engines, one water tender and about 16 members. ....
