A multi vehicle accident on the Quesnel River Bridge halted traffic for just over an hour today.
Traffic was backed up all the way up Dragon Lake Hill and into West Quesnel in the other direction.
RCMP say five vehicles were involved and that it started with one vehicle rear-ending another on the east end of the bridge, followed by a domino effect.
Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, although one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Two of the vehicles had to be towed. ....

Quesnel RCMP took a man and a woman into custody after seizing drugs, cash, and a handgun following a high-speed pursuit.
Just after 5 pm last night (Thursday), North District Traffic Services attempted to stop a northbound Mercedestravelling 145 kilometres per hour on Highway 97 south of Quesnel.
The car did not stop and sped away at a higher rate of speed.
According to police, the vehicle entered Quesnel City limits, which then led to a second police vehicle unsuccessfully stopping the car.
The driver then a construction zone and witnesses reported the vehicle driving dangerously down Dragon Lake Hill. ....

Quesnel RCMP has seized drugs, cash, and a handgun after using spike belts to stop a vehicle travelling at approximately 180 kilometres per hour and failed to stop for police.
Around 5:17 PM last night (Thursday), an RCMP North District Traffic Officer attempted to stop a northbound Mercedes sedan reportedly travelling 145 kilometres per hour on Highway 97 south of Quesnel. The car did not stop and sped away at around 180 kilometres per hour.
According to RCMP, after the Mercedes entered the Quesnel City limits a second police vehicle unsuccessfully attempted to stop the car, which drove into oncoming lanes in a construction zone on Highway 97. Witnesses also reported the vehicle driving dangerously down Dragon Lake Hill, swerving in and out of traffic at high rates of speed. ....
