ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2021 ) :Though a letter addressed to Minister for FederalEducation & Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood, Chairman Association of Private Universities Association of Pakistan (APSUP), Prof. Dr. Chaudhary Abdul Rehman has urged on timely commencement of Autumn Semester 2021.
The letter mentions that Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) is an elected representative body of 85 private sector universities with 31 regional campuses having more than 40% students in higher education sector across Pakistan.

Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) on Thursday asked Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood to ensure a timely start of the Autumn Semester which starts from September.

The Autumn Semester 2021 should start on time, the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) said in a letter to Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Thursday.
The letter comes after the government decided to hold exams   and not promote students based on school or college assessed grades. Although the education minister has said that Matriculation and Intermediate exams, which are due to begin after June 15, will be given priority and be held first so that university admissions are not delayed, varsities are concerned the Autumn Semester will be pushed to a date later than usual. ....

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic and high inflation rate, it seems next to impossible for the higher education sector to sustain without a significant increase in education funding in the forthcoming budget.
The government should make a substantial increase in the education budget and announce a special relief package in the coming budget in order to meet the growing education needs and cope with the modern days requirements.

No doubt education is very important subject and basic need of every citizen of the country, but, unfortunately, since the last few years, this important subject has not been of priority among the concerned authorities. It is indeed unfortunate that rather than increasing the education budget, it has been decreased, and due to this, universities and Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) have suffered the most. Certainly, it should be the first and foremost responsibility of the governments, education ministry, and the concerned authorities, like the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
