RailTel IPO opens for subscription on Tuesday. Should you subscribe?


The three-day initial public offering (IPO) of the state-owned RailTel Corporation of India will open for subscription on Tuesday. The price band has been fixed at Rs 93-94 a share for the initial share-sale.
The IPO is entirely an offer-for-sale through which the government will offload 87,153,369 equity shares, amounting to 27.16 per cent stake. At the upper end of the price band, the government would raise a little over Rs 819 crore.
Half of the issue is reserved for qualified institutional buyers, 35 per cent for retail investors, and 15 per cent for non-institutional bidders.
Railtel shares were changing hands at a premium of over 30 per cent to its IPO price in the grey market, said people in the know. While the IPO price band is Rs 93-94 per share, grey market operators are offering over Rs 122 per share. ....

Over superstitious beliefs, three people have been arrested for allegedly being involved in the murder of their 2-year-old nephew, said the police. 
The victim, Shiva was playing outside his house in Hasanpur village on Friday evening when one of the accused allegedly took him to her house. The child was later allegedly murdered by the accused Ramsurat, his wife and his daughter, informed the police. 
The accused then hid the body in a wheat flour container, they said. ....

Senior Professor Jennifer Perera, the chairman of the committee appointed to make recommendations on how the last rites should be conducted, said that she and her committee had given permission for the burial and cremation and COVID burial.
Speaking to the Hiru News team she stated that the relevant permission was given for the burial through special criteria.
Secretary to the Ministry of Health S.H. Munasinghe appointed a special committee last December to make recommendations on the final course of COVID deaths.
Senior Professor Jennifer Perera, the former President of the Sri Lanka Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Forum and the Sri Lanka Medical Association, has been appointed as its Chairperson. ....
