Young country artist Morgan Robertson on the rise

Hailing from Carlyle, Robertson spoke to the Mercury about these achievements and how essential local venues are to musicians in the area.
Robertson has played and performed music for over 10 years, beginning with the fiddle and eventually expanding to playing guitar, singing and songwriting. In the past, she has performed across the southeast with the youth vocal fiddle group Focal Point.
About five years ago, Robertson began taking singing and songwriting seriously. Since then, she has fostered her individual performing skills. Notably, she performed at the Bow Valley Jamboree in 2019 and opened for Tyler Lewis at the Happy Nun Café in Forget in 2020. ....

Happy Nun named top venue and Carlyle youth receives scholarship at Sask. Country Music Awards

In a post on its Facebook page Sunday morning, the Happy Nun thanked all of its friends and family for the continued support.
The Happy Nun also applauded all the other venues out there that are working hard to do what they can to keep live music happening at this time.
Also, the SCMA bursary was won by Carlyle s Morgan Robertson. (Next week’s edition of the Observer will have more on Robertson’s award).
J.J. Voss, Tenille Arts and The Hunter Brothers were among the big winners.
Voss was named the Male Artist of the Year, and won for Roots Album or EP of the Year for Come Along with Me. ....

Runions nominated for Songwriter of the Year

Runions felt they were more deserving of this nomination.
“I had my first live show in basically a year back on Feb. 5 and 6 at the Happy Nun Café in Forget,” said Runions. “My fiancée is a singer/songwriter as well so we went and did an acoustic show there. It was sold out both nights which was good.”
“It was just amazing to play again,” said Runions. “It felt so good. Everyone enjoyed themselves. I think people just wanted to get out. People just wanted a reason to do something.”
“It feels good to get back in front of a live audience,” added Runions. “Absolutely it’s great and the crowd is so appreciative and it was a really attentive crowd. It was a good start to playing again after a full year.” ....
