The Covid-19 death toll at a Laois nursing home in Stradbally has tragically risen again on the day before vaccination begins at the facility.
Management at the Drominín Nursing Home has confirmed that a ninth person has succumbed to the virus on Wendesday morning, January 13.
Mr Gearóin Brennan, Chief Executive of the Brookhaven Healthcare Group that runs the home, confirmed the death in a statement which outlined the status of the outbreak
He said 50 residents are positive the majority having no symptoms. A further six people are classed as not-detected / negative. ....

The vaccination of elderly people in long term care will begin in Laois at St Vincent s Community Nursing Unit in Mountmellick this week.
The HSE s Community Health Office for Laois has confirmed that vaccination will begin in Mountmellick this Friday, January 15.
The HSE run facility cares for around 80 long term care residents. It has a dedicated Alzheimers and dementia unit.
It follows the start of vaccination at several HSE long term care facilities around Ireland last week. ....
