Youth Work Ireland Laois is launching a new initiative for young people aged 13 – 18 years with an invitation to take part in an online FIFA21 Tournament.
Youth Work Ireland Laois Manager Clive Davis spoke about the tournament which is part of the Laois ‘Keep Well’ Community Resilience Campaign.
“We are delighted to be part of Laois’s ‘Keep Well’ campaign and continue our work with young people across the county during this pandemic. The FIFA21 Tournament is one of a range of engagement initiatives and services we can offer at this time to encourage and maintain contact with young people and between young people who are facing a variety of unprecedented challenges. ....

Callers to Laois Covid helpline are mostly asking for food

Most of the calls made to the Covid-19 support line in Laois are from people asking for food.
Since Laois County Council set up the line on March 30 2020, it has received 765 calls, 732 of them in 2020.
There were 24 calls this January and nine in February so far.
It is noteworthy that in 2021 the vast majority of calls received at from those seeking food parcels. PATH continue to provide this invaluable service and their selfless work in the community is deeply appreciated, the council s CEO John Mulholland reported at their February council meeting. ....

The Government Plan for Living with COVID-19: Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021 has highlighted the important role that individual and community resilience will play in contributing to our ongoing response to COVID-19, according to Laois County Council.
As a response to this, the council says the ‘Keep Well’ Community Resilience campaign was launched and at the heart of the campaign is helping people - individuals & communities - to keep up their resilience & wellbeing through an especially challenging winter and through to spring. ....
