Three projects across the county will share €20,000 under a special grant scheme run by The Heritage Council.
The fund will help boost a post-Covid recovery, grow tourism, and enhance community spirit by supporting local heritage projects. Under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme, €20,810 has been allocated to community groups and not-for-profit organisations in Kilkenny.
Recipients include: Kilkenny Archaeological Society who received €3,710 for the ‘Old Kilkenny Review Digitalisation Project’,
Windgap Tidy Towns was allocated €2,100 to prepare a conservation management plan for Windgap Grotto, which will help inform its future management and conservation and Castlecomer Discovery Park received €15,000 which goes towards an immersive interactive digital experience, based on the local coal-mining museum. ....

TWELVE projects across county Clare will share €76,000 under a special grant scheme run by The Heritage Council.
The fund will help boost a post-Covid recovery, grow tourism, and enhance community spirit by supporting local heritage projects.
Under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme, €76,030 has been allocated to community groups and not-for-profit organisations.
Scariff Community Council received €12,000 to carry out a conservation/condition report on the Workhouse Water Tower in the town.
Cuimhneamh an Chláir received €8,000 for ‘The Clare Oral History Podcast’ – a podcast series based on the oral history archive of Cuimhneamh an Chláir. ....

€23,500 grant for work on Kildare pyramid tombs, vault and walled towns

County Kildare has received €23,000 for three projects under special grant schemes run by The Heritage Council.
Under the Community Heritage Grant Scheme, €18,500 has been allocated to community groups and not-for-profit organisations in Kildare. Follies Trust received €8,500 for the conservation of iron doors on two pyramid mausolea at Maudlins burial ground, Naas. Tea Lane Graveyard Committee was awarded €10,000 to carry out conservation works to the Grattan Family Vault Celbridge.
Meanwhile, under the Heritage Council’s Irish Walled Towns Network (IWTN), €5,000 is earmarked for interpretation initiatives, which will protect and preserve the history and heritage of Ireland’s walled towns. Kildare Town Heritage CLG has been allocated €3,500 for its project Interpretation for the three abbeys of Kildare.’ The aim of this project is to raise public awareness of the three great abbeys of Kildare. An interpretive panel will be installed ....
