INDIANAPOLIS Two men and a woman were wounded in a Wednesday night shooting at an east-side hotel, police said.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was sent shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a person shot at the Motor 8 Inn, 3731 N. Shadeland Ave. That’s south of the intersection of East 38th Street and Shadeland Avenue.
IMPD said two of the shooting victims showed up at Community Hospital East, 1500 N. Ritter Ave. One of those victims at Community Hospital East was in critical condition, and the condition of the other two victims was not immediately available. It was not immediately known by IMPD if the person in critical condition was a man or a woman. ....

INDIANAPOLIS According to researchers, the nationwide baby boom some expected to occur after months of married couples quarantining at home together has failed to materialize. But locally, one Community Health hospital is reporting a huge spike in pregnancies, both with its patients and its staff.
At Community Hospital East, nine of their caregivers were pregnant at one time.
“In January, we were up 30 percent in terms of our number of births,” said Dr. Julia Kearney, an OB/GYN at Community Hospital North. “In March, we re going to be up 70 percent, so we re expecting over 400 babies to be born at Community Hospital North [in March]. Last year, we were under 300 [in March], so it s a huge increase for us.” ....

Baby boom among Community Hospital East maternity staff

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) There’s a baby boom among a group of baby experts.
The maternity and newborn intensive care unit staff at Community Hospital East, who have been on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic for a year, are bringing a number of their own bundles of joy into the world.
There are nine staff members so far, including seven maternity nurses, that are pregnant. The seven nurses is quite something when you consider there’s just 45 on staff at Community East.
In fact, one nurse couldn’t join the Zoom call Friday because she started having contractions. ....
