Bison installation launches Métis Mentorship Project at Mann Art Gallery

The Mann Art Gallery Intergenerational Métis Mentorship Project officially launched Friday with the first installation of a series at the gallery. This is similar to a project last year and sees local artist Leah Dorion mentoring emerging Métis cultural educator and artist Ashley Smith.
Dorion and Smith, will create three temporary art projects in outdoor spaces surrounding the Mann Art Gallery and E.A.Rawlinson Centre in July and August. Each installation will be up for several weeks. ....

Tisdale's FunZone prepares for summer 2021


The goal behind the program is to promote positive physical and social development for the youth.
Lesley Thibault, Tisdale’s director of recreation and parks, said that they expect the program to be similar to previous years, but are waiting to see what regulations to be.
“We’re going to play it by ear,” Thibault said. “We’re going to do an online registration this year but numbers will be based on what will be allowed with restrictions from the government.”
The program will take place in the Step 2of the province’s reopen plan, which will begin on June 20. ....

A council-controlled organisation that receives millions of dollars in local government funding has secured a large chunk of a community initiatives fund.
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council met on Wednesday to discuss its Long-term
Plan deliberations, which included the allocation of $200,000 through a Community Initiatives Fund. Another $200,000 was considered for enhanced community engagement and participation plus $500,000 to better support local volunteers.
Tourism Bay of Plenty Low Carbon Economy will receive $60,000 and Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital will receive $40,000 per annum from the Community Initiatives Fund. A total of 28 groups applied for funding. ....

LFC Foundation extends deadline for Community Initiatives Fund
LFC Foundation has today announced an extension to the deadline for applications for 2020-21 Community Initiatives funding to benefit the community in and around the Anfield area.
Friday July 30, 2021 is the last opportunity for this year for those bursting with great ideas to apply for financial support.
The fund, which launched in October 2020, was created by LFC Foundation and supported by Liverpool Football Club. Its aim is to support and assist local groups or organisations who want to create a lasting project or initiative in the L4, L5 and/or L6 postcode areas within the Anfield and Everton wards. ....
