South African Army soldiers have recovered another two stolen vehicles along South Africa’s borders as part of Operation Corona border patrols.
In the early hours of Friday morning (28 May), soldiers of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) were conducting routine foot patrols in the Samora Machel Monument area in the Macadamia Area of Responsibility when they came across an abandoned Toyota Hilux hidden on a small road. The vehicle was reported stolen at Malvern SA Police Service in Queensburg, KwaZulu-Natal, and was found with false registration plates. The vehicle was recovered from the scene handed over to Mbuzini SA Police Service. ....

SA SOLDIERS RECOVER STOLEN TOYOTA HILUX VEHICLES AFTER THEY GOT STUCK IN MUD (See Photo)


South Africa National Defence Force soldiers were conducting a standing patrol in the vicinity of the Samora Machel Monument (Macadamia) and recovered two stolen Toyota Hilux bakkies.
The vehicles were discovered after they became stuck in the mud and the mud and the sound of high revving engines attracted the attention of the patrolling soldiers.
Upon closer investigation at the scene, more vehicles were discovered.
The soldiers followed the tracks which led them to the discovery of three more vehicles that became stuck about 500m on the Mozambican side of the border fence.
The three vehicles in Mozambique were recovered by Mozambican soldiers and the help of civilians. ....

A soldier’s job is often a thankless task with bad weather not allowed to interfere. Soldiers on border protection found the recent heavy rain on their side allowing for recovery of two stolen bakkies.
Joint Tactical Headquarters in Mpumalanga reports an Operation Corona standing patrol in pouring rain in the Samora Machel Monument area, part of Macadamia base area of operations, were alerted by the sound of high revving engines.
Investigating, the patrol found the Hilux bakkies stuck in mud with unsuccessful attempts at self-extraction causing the high revving engines to give the suspects away. Closer inspection led to another three mud-bound vehicles 500 metres on the Mozambican side of the border. ....
