NA-249 by-poll more controversial than Daska: Shahid Khaqan

KARACHI: Former prime minister and PMLN central leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said that the by-election in the NA-249 constituency in Karachi has become even more controversial than recently-held Daska by-poll.
“It is not the place for (PPP supremo) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to talk about the NA-249 by-poll. He should talk according to his political height,” said Abbasi, while addressing a press conference at the Muslim League House in Karachi. Former governor Sindh Mohammad Zubair also accompanied him. Abbasi questioned how did those who were not even fourth in NA-249 won. “We know what the intentions of the PPP are,” he said. ....

Controversial Rotorua councillor Reynold Macpherson is facing three new code of conduct complaints, including one from the council chief executive.
The new complaints relate to three of his social media posts on the Rotorua Residents and Ratepayers Facebook page.
The first was about a wastewater leak near Ngongotahā on March 2 - the same post mayor Steve Chadwick demanded Macpherson apologise for at a March 4 council committee meeting.

Rotorua Lakes Council chief executive Geoff Williams wrote to mayor Steve Chadwick on March 5 saying the post contained serious accusations . ....

Controversial Australian MP Craig Kelly has had his Facebook profile removed by the social media giant for his repeated spreading of misinformation about Covid-19.
In a statement, a Facebook spokesman said the platform didn t allow anyone, including elected officials, to share misinformation about Covid-19 that could lead to imminent physical harm, or Covid-19 vaccines that have been debunked by public health experts.

ISLAMABAD: A resolution moved by a ruling party lawmaker in the National Assembly is primarily intended to satisfy the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), makes no substantial and specific demand from the government and contains non-controversial assertions.
The motion tabled by Amjad Ali Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) does not demand the expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan but only calls for a debate to discuss the issue of expelling the envoy.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had stated in his recent address to the nation that it was not wise for Pakistan to throw out the French diplomat as any such action would prove to be inconsequential for the French but cause immense problems for the country. It was always projected by the TLP and understood by all and sundry that the religious outfit wants the eviction of the French envoy from Pakistan at all costs.
