Kaduna must dialogue with labour, FG insists - Punch Newspapers

The Federal Government has said that Kaduna and any other state must dialogue with the organised labour as enshrined in the International Labour Organisation Conventions, to which Nigeria is a signatory.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, stated this while presiding over the ongoing meeting between Kaduna State Government and the Nigeria Labour Congress in Abuja on Thursday.
He said though labour has a right to go on strike according to the provisions of the law, it should not obstruct the provision of essential services.
The minister, however, said should he failed to reconcile both NLC and the Kaduna State Government within one week, the matter will be transferred to a higher authority as prescribed by the Trade Unions Dispute Act. ....

Protesters Told: “Don’t Break the Law”
The Ministry of Labour has issued a statement this evening reminding unions and their membership to adhere to the laws of Belize during all protest activities. In particular, the Ministry points out that the blocking of highways and bridges are “unlawful actions which are not internationally recognized industrial action nor those permitted by our domestic laws.” They also remind protesters that congregating in groups larger than ten is a “flagrant” breach of the COVID-19 Public Health Regulations.  The ministry condemns the blocking of highways and urges the unions to quote “abstain from criminal and reckless activities that are harmful and reckless to the wider public.’ The Labor Commission says it fully respects the citizens’ and labourers’ fundamental right to freedom of assembly and association and the freedom of expression as enshrined in the Belize Constitution and International Labo ....
