Ghatkesar (Telangana) [India], March 7 (ANI): Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLC K Kavitha on Saturday said the state-run Social Welfare Residential Colleges are running on par with private institutions.
Kavitha attended the International Women s Day Celebrations held at Social Welfare Residential College in Ghatkesar of Medchal-Malkajgiri district of Telangana on Saturday.
Speaking to ANI, Kavitha said, The Telangana government has taken initiative to ensure that the Social Welfare Residential Colleges in the state are working on par with private institutions. We are educating about 5 lakh children today in Telangana. We are ensuring that graduate studies are being done. So, the KG to PG (Kindergarten to Post Graduation) is being well implem ....

Arming women not enough, men need support too—AFETT

The Association of Female Executives in Trinidad and Tobago (AFETT) is calling for a multi-pronged and many-layered approach in dealing with the issue of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in this country, stating that it should be a national priority, all year round.
In an official statement issued today, recently elected AFETT president, Dixie-Ann Dixon, points out that men need psycho-social support to bring about behaviour change, and that arming women is not enough to end the GBV scourge.
“While we need to look out for our women, we also need to pay closer attention to our young men, particularly at an early age, ensuring that they have respect for women and provide safe outlets for expressing themselves and their emotions,” Dixon observes. ....
