Farmers task FG on security, as goverment rolls out input support


Farmers have called on the Federal Government to beef up the country’s security architecture, as the spate of attacks by bandits, especially in rural communities is escalating daily.
According to them, government support will be meaningless, if they are unable to go to their farms for the fear off being attacked.
The call is coming on the heels of the roll out of input supply by the Federal Government to 7,500 women farmers across the North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on women farmers.
The National President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Kabir Ibrahim had attributed the escalating food prices to the low farming activities in the country, due to insecurity. ....

But she never let her initial beliefs that she wasn’t qualified enough get in the way of her career. Her hope is that women and girls will do the same, feel less self-doubt than she did, and not be dissuaded from careers they want to pursue.
“Women, young women, and girls need to dream a bit bigger,” Lakshmi, TV host and producer, author, and UNDP Goodwill ambassador, told thousands of viewers on a livestream organized by Partners In Health (PIH). “We have to find somewhere deep within us.to say.I’m going for it. Senate pledges gender parity in constitution amendment

THE National Assembly has expressed its readiness to amend the Constitution to ensure gender parity and enact laws to improve the fortunes of women and girls in Nigeria.
This was just as the Senate resolved to expunge provisions of the law as contained in the Police Act, Federal Character Law, Electoral Act, Labour Act and Political Parties constitutions, which infringed on the rights of women in Nigeria.
The decision was conveyed amidst resolutions reached on Wednesday during plenary when the Upper Chamber considered a motion on the 2021 International Women’s Day Celebration with the theme: “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-l9 world #Choose To Challenge”. ....
