The Minister of Information, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has reiterated the resolve of the Akufo-Addo administration to deepening the frontiers of free speech and the independence of the media.
This he said was evident in the passage of the Right to Information Bill into law, the opening of the Office for the Coordinated Mechanisms for the Safety of Journalists, recruitment of RTI Officers inter alia.
Interacting with journalists of the Savannah Region at Damongo as part of his duty tour of the five regions in the North, the minister acknowledged the fact that the media plays a critical role in ensuring our democracy functions and function very well. ....

The Muslim Umma across the rank and file of the North Gonja District in the Savannah Region have launched a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to either elevate Mr. Adam Eliasu to a higher position or re-appoint him as the District Chief Executive.
Made up of a coalition of Muslim Imams from the various communities in the North Gonja District, the group believes their demand comes on the back of a proven track record and outstanding performance of the DCE over the last four years. ....

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region embarked on a massive demonstration dubbed; “Mahama or No One” at Buipe in the Central Gonja District of Savannah Region on 22nd December, 2020. The demonstration was to register their displeasure at the Electoral Commission of Ghana for not declaring the NDC 2020 Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama as President-elect.
Speaking exclusively to Bole based Nkilgi Fm after the demonstration, the Savannah Regional Chairman of the NDC Alhaji Seidu Imoro sent a word of caution to the EC Chairperson Jean Mensah that though she declared Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President-elect, the NDC will also swear in John Dramani Mahama as the President of Ghana on 7th January 2020. ....
