COVID-19: Saudi Arabia sets rules for exemptions at workplace


Cairo: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced exemption of several categories of employees at public and private sectors from attending the workplace as part of precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
According to these regulations, they include employees above 60 years; patients of chronic cardiac ailments suffering a heart disorder at least once over the past year; and sufferers of chronic pulmonary diseases, severe asthma, or hereditary immune deficiency including thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia.
Other exempted categories comprise patients of acquired immune deficiency; overweight (body mass index over 40); and sufferers of chronic diseases including diabetes of types 1 and 2 who have been hospitalised at least once during the past six months, high blood pressure, chronic renal diseases and liver cirrhosis. ....

Saudi Arabia outlines national policy banning child labour


Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has set the main features for the national policy banning child labour in the Kingdom.
The policy was approved by the Council of Ministers presided over by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz during last week’s session.
The ministry outlined the provisions of the national policy on its official website, clarifying that child labour means employing children under the age of 15 years.
The ministry said the minimum age for employing children was 15.
However, children aged between 13 and 15 years are allowed to work in specific jobs for a specific number of hours, provided this does not violate the child’s right to receive education and play. ....
