BENGALURU: Investments into money market funds surged to the highest this year in the week ended March 31, as investors favored safety amid a fall in bond prices and fresh lockdowns in Europe, with the region grappling to contain a rising number of coronavirus infections.
Global money market funds received inflows of $44.7 billion in the week, the biggest since the week ended Dec. 30, data from Refinitiv Lipper showed.
On the other hand, equity funds obtained inflows of $17.6 billion, the lowest in three weeks, pressured by a surge in US bond yields. ....

Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Investment announced that expatriates will be allowed to manage Saudi-owned companies, local media reported.
The announcement was made after the Ministry of Justice had revoked a previous ministerial decision stipulating that it is not permissible for an expatriate resident to manage a Saudi company or authorising him through a judicial order to act on behave of a Saudi citzen.
A circular to this effect was issued by Dr. Walid Al Samaani, Minister of Justice, who stated the ministry received a request from Minister of Commerce Majed Al Qasabi, to annul the decision and further allow an expat to run a national company. ....

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce and Investment identified 218 sensitive goods, and carried out periodic inspections to ensure the availability of commodities during the Covid-19 crisis, Commerce Minister Majid Al-Qasabi said.
At least SAR 218 billion ($58.1 billion) have been pumped into supporting the private sector and ensuring that commodities reach consumers during the pandemic.
Speaking during a forum to discuss the Saudi budget 2021 on Wednesday, Dec 16, Qasabi added that the Kingdom successfully mitigated the repercussions of the pandemic due to Vision 2030 programs and there was no shortage in food or medication. ....
