Three methane-reduction projects taking advantage of Sask. oil and gas incentives

Methane, the key constituent of natural gas, is a potent greenhouse gas when emitted to the atmosphere unburned. In recent years there have been international, national and provincial efforts to reduce methane emissions. On Jan. 26, the Government of Saskatchewan announced support for three new projects that will reduce methane emissions, increase gas processing capacity and create jobs. The projects qualify for the Saskatchewan Petroleum Innovation Incentive (SPII) and the Oil and Gas Processing Investment Incentive (OGPII), which provide a percentage of transferable royalty credits once private funding has been dedicated and facilities have been built.

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan said January 26 it would provide financial support for three projects that will reduce methane emissions, increase natural gas processing and create jobs.
