Second paved road in and out of Juniper a priority for City of Kamloops


Trawin said he has been inundated with messages from Juniper residents who reported feeling trapped on the hilltop as the fire burned below, including some who thought they were going to die.
He met with council on Tuesday morning and made three recommendations: work immediately with federal and provincial governments to create an additional paved access in and out of Juniper, implement the Voyent Alert app, estimated to cost $100,000 over five years, and report back later in more detail on what happened and what could be done better.
Trawin said the city is already looking to pave the Coldwater Drive-High Canada Place road in the next year, but will now be looking at something “bigger” and “long-term” not just emergency access, but a full and open road. ....

The Prince George Cougars thought they were too big for their britches and it cost them dearly.
Led by a three point effort from Josh Pillar, the Kamloops Blazers made mince meat out of the Cats securing a 5-0 victory from the Sandman Centre on Wednesday.
