SANDWICH – The Sandwich STEM Academy and Sandwich High School switched to remote-only classes Thursday and Friday after approximately 30 staff memberswere absent last week, Sandwich School Superintendent Pamela Gould said.
Sandwich Education Association President Chelsea Craig said the remote model was used “due to so many teachers quarantining because of close contacts” with people who had COVID-19. Cases of the virus have spiked across the Cape over the past month.
Many of these were not school-related, Craig said, adding that she was exposed to COVID-19 from her daughter s preschool.  
As of Friday afternoon, seven staff members and students in the STEM Academy and Sandwich High School were confirmed to have coronavirus but there was no evidence of community spread in the building that houses grades 7-12, Gould said. ....
