SAN LUIS OBISPO The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors held a regularly scheduled meeting on May 4 from 9 a.m until 11:35 p.m. The meeting opened with public comment, which focused mainly on item 13, the request for the Board of Supervisors to sign and send a letter to the State Water Resource Control Board opposing two applications to appropriate water for the Shandon-San Juan Water District.
Supervisor Bruce Gibson moved for approval of the consent agenda with exception of item 13. His discussion on item 13 indicated that there was not enough information on the item for the Board to make a decision and should be tabled for future discussion. ....

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors has decided to return to the traditional method of polling stations and precincts for future elections in the county.
Due to Covid-19, a new and different model was used in the General Election last November with all registered voters in the county receiving a ballot in the mail. Those ballots could be mailed back, dropped off at newly created Voter Service Centers or in-person at the County Clerk-Recorder s office.
SLO County saw a record-breaking 88 percent voter turnout for the November general election which was fourth highest in the state. ....

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors are set to discuss and decide which voting model the County will use for future elections.
In addition, County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong will provide a presentation describing the two potential election models to be considered, as well as results from a Voter Survey recently conducted by his office.
At the heart of the debate is to proceed with one of two elections models, in-person polling places or a Voters Choice Act (VCA) system that requires ballots mailed to every registered voter. ....

Travelers can soon get COVID-19 tests at SLO Regional Airport

The airport will offer two types of testing: a Molecular RT-LAMP saliva test with results available in four hours and a Molecular PCR test, with results available within 48 hours.
–The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors voted this week to establish a COVID-19 testing facility at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP). Templeton-based Nova Labs, LLC, will operate the facility, which is scheduled to open May 2.
Free COVID-19 tests are available without an appointment at several community testing sites throughout SLO County, including the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building, Paso Robles Event Center, Morro Bay Veterans Memorial Building, and Ramona Garden Park Center in Grover Beach. Testing at the airport will be available for a fee, of $100 per test, to inbound and outbound travelers, tenants, and personnel operating at SBP. ....
