Almost 1300 cases of illegally dumped rubbish and household goods in Brisbane show the mess left since the Brisbane City Council cancelled kerbside collections almost a year ago, the Labor opposition says.
The council cancelled kerbside collections in April 2020 for two years to reduce risk to its staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Greens councillor Jonathan Sri has been reprimanded for inappropriate conduct by Brisbane City Council s councillor ethics committee over social media comments on renters issues last year.

Brisbane City Councilâs ethics committee has reprimanded Greens councillor Jonathan Sri for social media comments about rental issues, made as the COVID-19 pandemic hit last year.
The bipartisan committee of Labor and LNP councillors voted unanimously in favour of the action on Tuesday after hearing the complaint made to the Office of the Independent Assessor last March.
Greens councillor Jonathan Sri says he was not given an opportunity to respond to evidence against him.
