Thirty kilometres of Richmond-Winton Road to be sealed

A $24 million upgrade is under way to widen and seal more than 30 kilometres of the Richmond-Winton Road.
The upgrade will also and replace key structures, including culverts, and improve road safety and travel times on the key regional connector, as part of an $364.68 million Australian Government to enable the fast roll-out of safety treatments on roads across Queensland.
This includes $5.39 million to seal additional sections of the Richmond-Winton Road, helping reduce deaths and serious injuries as part of the $3 billion nationwide Road Safety Program.
The investment also includes $16.3 million committed to boost delivery of immediate benefits to the regional economy while providing long-lasting infrastructure capable of supporting growth well into the future. ....

Budget 2021-22: Federal Government expands life-saving road safety investment
The Federal Budget commits an additional $1 billion to the Road Safety Program, as part of the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to improving road safety and getting Australians home sooner sand safer.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the $1 billion funding injection will back two additional six-month tranches, extending the program from June 2022 to June 2023.
“This investment builds on the previous $2 billion over 18 months announced for the Road Safety Program as part of last year’s Budget, as well as the $500 million Targeted Road Safety Works initiative announced in June 2020,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. ....

Three new Rocky bike paths worth $16.6m under construction

Three new shared bike and walking paths are being constructed in Rockhampton and are due to be complete by mid-year.
The infrastructure is meant to encourage physical activity and improve road safety.
The new paths will be located at:
Jellicoe Street to Prospect Street, worth $6.16 million)
Neville Hewitt Bridge to Musgrave Street, worth $6.6 million
Carlton Street to Yeppoon Road, worth $3.3 million
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said work on the $16.6 million projects began in April and was part of the jointly-funded $293 million first tranche of the Road Safety Program for Queensland announced in January 2020.
“On average, every dollar invested in cycling infrastructure will return nearly five dollars in economic benefit to Queensland, with improved health outcomes, reduced traffic congestion and lower transport costs whilst also creating employment opportunities during construction,” he said. ....

NSW, SA and Victoria have snagged the lion’s share of infrastructure spending in the latest federal budget.
As revealed in the 2021 budget, the government is committing an additional $15.2 billion to infrastructure projects over the next ten years. This will bump the total federal commitment to $110 billion, with the additional spending said to account for 30,000 new jobs over the decade. 
At a federal level, both the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and Road Safety Program are being extended for another year at the cost of $1 billion each. ....
