Malaysia proposes reciprocal Covid-19 vaccine certificate recognition among D-8 member states

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia on Thursday proposed to the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8) the possibility of having Reciprocal Covid-19 Vaccine Certificate Recognition among D-8 member states to speed up the reopening of hardest-hit sectors.
Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin put forward the proposal in his keynote speech at the 10th Summit of the D-8 on Thursday as he addressed the summit virtually, in view of the vaccines roll-out plans that are already in motion in most countries.
Muhyiddin is leading Malaysia’s delegation to the virtual summit, chaired by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed. The D-8 consists of eight developing countries namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. ....

Agriculture sector holds great potential for youths, Muhyiddin tells D-8 Summit

The Prime Minister said local youths have started to realise agriculture holds a promising future.
Smart farming has rapidly become the future of agriculture.
The food supply chain can be improved by introducing enabling technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT) or traceability systems, that have the potential to increase food safety and production transparency, he said on Thursday (April 8) during the 10th Summit of the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8).
The virtual summit was hosted by Bangladesh.
The theme for this year s summit is Partnership for a Transformative World: Harnessing the Power of Youth and Technology”.
The six other countries in the D-8 are Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. ....

In his statement at the 19th Session of the D-8 Council of Ministers Meeting on Wednesday, ahead of the virtual 10th D-8 Summit tomorrow, he said the areas were intensifying online education; innovating digital businesses; and promoting safe cross-border travel.
Hishammuddin said the theme of the 10th D-8 Summit, “Partnership for a Transformative World: Harnessing the Power of Youth and Technology” is timely, providing a new approach for the grouping in its recovery efforts in the post-pandemic era. ....
