It was a landslide victory for the ruling TRS party in the Siddipet Municipality elections. The party won 36 of the 43 wards and is assured of winning the chairperson’s post.
The TRS rebels won five wards, while the BJP and AIMIM won one ward each. The Congress did not get a single seat.
Just an hour after TRS rebel candidate Mohammad Riyazuddhin s victory, he joined TRS in the presence of Finance Minister T Harish Rao. He won from the 20th ward.
Kothapally Radha of BJP won the 17th ward, while Mohammad Abdul Nazeer of AIMIM won the 29th ward. TRS rebels emerged victorious in the 20th, 35th, 36th, 42nd, and 43rd wards. The remaining 36 wards were won by TRS candidates. ....

As expected, Minister for Finance T. Harish Rao proved his hold on Siddipet with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) winning 36 of 43 wards in the elections to Siddipet Municipality for which counting was held on Monday.
While independents won in five wards in one ward a rebel has won. BJP and MIM bagged one seat each. ....

The campaign for the election to Siddipet Municipality peaked with only 24 hours remaining for campaigning for the civic body elections.
As far as the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi is concerned, Finance Minister T. Harish Rao has taken up the total responsibility right from selection of candidates to ensure their victory at the hustings. From BJP it is Dubbak MLA M. Raghunandan Rao who has taken the onus of steering his party through the elections while it is former MLA T. Narsa Reddy of the Congress party who is working hard to ensure his party wins the elections. ....

Only three nominations were rejected during scrutiny after examining the nominations for election to 43 wards in Siddipet Municipality on Monday. A total of 577 nominations were filed by 349 candidates and the number of valid nominations was also same. Some candidates filed another set of nominations. The final number of contestants in the fray will be known only after withdrawal. There are as many as 120 candidates from TRS, 107 independents, 72 from BJP and 42 from Congress. There is not even a single candidate from the TDP.
