ENFIELD â Though he would not say how many officers have been infected or are in quarantine, Police Chief Alaric Fox confirmed his department is experiencing its worst spike in COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
Fox said he is ânot really comfortableâ revealing the exact number of positive COVID-19 cases within the department or how many department employees might be in quarantine. However, he said operations and public safety remain unaffected.
The department announced on its Facebook page Monday that increased coronavirus cases within the department have forced it to proceed with its Christmas lights competition differently.
Fox said that last spring when the pandemic hit, his department was not affected, but that has now changed. The department has about 100 officers, according to its website.
