The jailed chief accountant of the scam-tainted Shivajirao Bhosale Co-operative Bank, Shailesh Bhosale, has now filed a
bail application before the
Bombay High Court. Contesting his application, depositors of the bank, represented by a 12-member committee, have filed an intervention application, bringing to HC’s notice the irregularities that happened under his watch. The court has approved the intervention.
Bhosale (47) was arrested on February 25, 2020, by the economic offences wing (EOW) of Pune crime branch. He was booked on the charges of cheating, forgery and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Institutions) or MPID ....

Shivajirao Bhosale Co-op Bank faces liquidation

Maharashtra’s Co-operative Department has sent a proposal to RBI seeking liquidation of the Shivajirao Bhosale Co-operative Bank, reports a news outlet.
If RBI accepts the proposal, this will ensure the return of the minimum deposit of Rs 5 lakh to bank’s depositors. Cooperative dept is quoted saying those who have invested more than Rs 5 lakh will receive at least Rs 5 lakh.
As many as 71,000 investors have invested a fixed deposit of Rs 5 lakh, while 8,000 investors invested more than Rs 5 lakh in the form of various deposits. Earlier, Pune police had registered a case against several functionaries including the bank chairman Anil Bhosale ....

The sessions court warned
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and prime accused in the Shivajirao Bhosale Co-operative Bank scam Anil Bhosale to obey the jail authority and maintain discipline in the
Yerawada Central Prison.
The warning came after the jail authorities filed at least seven complaints against Bhosale and prayed for shifting Bhosale to any other prison. All these complaints were heard together by the sessions court. ....
