Threats faced by journalists, bloggers and HRDs across the globe are rapidly changing and becoming increasingly complex, They are targeted on the basis of the nature of their reporting, while risks of reporting in the field persist.
Reporting on subjects such as gang violence, social issues, terrorism, state corruption or human rights abuses, or reporting that is otherwise critical of government or public officials, leaves journalists and civil society workers the most vulnerable to various forms of attacks and violence ....

Journalists, lawyers and human rights activists call for early enactment of effective Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Bill

Thirty leading editors, journalists, lawyers and human rights activists expressed concern at the delay in approval of the draft Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals Bill, 2020 that would provide a safe environment for practice of journalism in Pakistan. The draft Bill, which provides a strong base for legislation for protection of media, was presented to the federal cabinet by the Ministry of Human Rights a year ago but is still awaiting approval by the body

PPF organizes safety training workshop for bloggers, human rights activists | Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF)

The incidents of restrictions on freedom of expression, attacks on media professionals, murders, kidnapping, pressures & tortures and harassment continued whole this year in Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) annual review report, 29 incidents of attacks and threats to journalists, including online and offline, happened in Pakistan so far since the inception of the year 2020 whereas 13 cases of the same nature are under investigation.
The PPF 2019 report says that 74 different incidents against journalists were recorded during the year.
It may be noted that the Article 19 of the Constitution provides full freedom of expression to all citizens of Pakistan within the ambit of the law. This was stated at the second day session of a three-day workshop on physical, digital, and psycho social safety training for the bloggers of Sindh and Baluchistan and human rights activists, including women, organized by PPF in collaboration with European Union ....
