ORILLIA, ONT. The City of Orillia has been the backdrop of an upcoming comedy movie over the past three weeks. Film director Sean Cisterna returned to his hometown for the production of his latest movie, Boy City. It s a nice feeling to come back and be working with the same people you grew up with, said Cisterna. Boy City revolves around a group of friends in their mid-30s attempting to make it in the boy band industry. The Orillia native said that after reading the script, he knew his hometown would be a perfect fit to move production with its diverse locations, like the waterfront, neighbours, and modern and historic architecture. ....

Yep, Pantoliano s career arc has a familiar ring to it; quality actor hits retirement age and is shoe-horned into a twilight-years film . Think Diane Keaton, Bill Nighy, and, well, pretty much the entire cast of Marigold Hotel. But there is something endearing about the find yourself in retirement flick that has struck a notable chord with its audience so much that it s pretty much become a genre in its own right and From the Vine has set down ro ....
From the Vine (M, 93 mins) Directed by Sean Cisterna ½ Stop me if you ve heard this one already: A wealthyish man, facing retirement age with no enthusiasm at all, resolves his existential crisis by suddenly remembering that his family still own a vineyard in Italy and then hopping on a plane and “finding himself” among the serried rows of vibrant grapes and adorably eccentric locals. Put like that, From the Vine sounds like any number of vanity projects and big star junkets I ve sat through, with Liam Neeson s Made in Italy still unpalatably fresh in my memory. And, on paper, From the Vine is potentially the worst of the lot, as our self-obsessed bloke-who-must-be-redeemed hasn t even got the good grace to be divorced or widowed, but has instead skipped out on a still functional marriage without giving his wife and adult daughter much more than a hint that he was about to do so. ....
