Chaired by the Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity, Senator Pippa Hackett, the meeting was convened to monitor progress on the implementation of Project Woodland, which she established earlier this year, to review and implement national forest policy. Expressing satisfaction at what the members of the Forestry Policy Group heard at the meeting today the Minister said, âI was very encouraged by the progress reported at todayâs meeting. Last month, EirGrid and Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan launched a nationwide consultation on the future of Ireland’s electricity system. They are asking anyone interested in Ireland’s energy future to consider the approaches outlined in Shaping Our Electricity Future and provide feedback. “Climate change is one of the starkest challenges we face and Ireland is currently lagging far behind on our emissions targets,” the minister said. Mary White, who is 92 and from Waterford, was among the first people aged over 85 to get her Covid-19 vaccine this morning. It s lovely to have it done now, she said, after getting her first dose of the vaccine. Mary was one of up to 300 patients getting the vaccine at the Keogh Practice in Waterford city today. Her daughter Paula White accompanied her to the centre. It s great to see the start of it now. You just feel a bit safer.
