‘Be vigilant on threats of fundamentalism, secessionism’

The Commission said these threats of violence posed great danger to the country’s unity and stability.
Mr Alex Sackey, Eastern Regional Director of NCCE, said this at separate engagements with various security officers to mark this year’s constitution week celebration under the theme: ‘Unity and National Cohesion: The Role of the Security Services.”
The constitution week is being celebrated every year since 2001 and it usually starts on the 28th day of April which is of much significance to the history of the Fourth Republic being the date in 1992 on which Ghanaians voted massively in a referendum to accept the 1992 constitution, which subsequently came into effect on 7th January, 1993. ....

NCCE Cautions Security Against Threats Of Vigilantism, Fundamentalism And Secessionism


 
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Eastern Region has urged Ghana s security services to be vigilant against threats posed by vigilantism, fundamentalism, and secessionism.
The Commission said these threats of violence were posed great danger to the country s unity and stability.

Upper East police impound 107 motorbikes

In a bid to curb violent crimes, particularly armed robbery and the snatching of motorbikes in the Upper East Region, the Regional Police Command has impounded 107 unregistered motorbikes.
Out of that number, only nine owners of the motorbikes have presented their respective genuine documents and subsequently had their motorbikes released to them.
Records at the Regional Police Command also showed that perpetrators of about 75 per cent of violent crimes, particularly robberies, used unregistered motorbikes to commit the crimes.
The Public Affairs Officer of the Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr David Fianko-Okyere, who made this known to the Daily Graphic at Bolgatanga, stated that the Regional Police Command carried out the operation last Wednesday. ....

Prudential Bank Holds 2nd AFCFTA Summit


 
Prudential Bank has held its 2nd AfCFTA Summit with a call on African countries to improve their transport infrastructure and further develop the insurance sector in order to benefit fully from the implementation of the AfCFTA.
The Managing Director of the Bank, Mr John K. Addo, who made the call at the opening of the event said the statistics indicate that inadequate transport infrastructure adds around 30-40 per cent to the cost of goods traded among African countries.
It is therefore imperative that the needed focus is given to transport infrastructure and insurance to drive the smooth implementation of AfCFTA, he said. ....

ICUMS has made clearanceprocesses more seamless –GRA
The Deputy Commissioner in Charge of Suspense Regimes at the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Emmanuel Ohene, has intimated that the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) being deployed as a trade facilitation tool at the ports of Ghana has added to the paperless system introduced at the ports in 2017, making clearance processes more seamless.
“In the ICUMS, you can now make payments electronically, you can obtain advise for examination and bills from the shipping lines all without recourse to submitting paper,”Mr.Ohene listed some benefits of the ICUMS.
Speaking on Eye on Port, Emmanuel Ohenewho is also the Chairman of the ICUMS Implementation Committee, described the ICUMS as work in progress that is being fashioned to be a great national asset, that would lead to the realization of the vision of Ghana’s ports becoming paperless at its optimum level. ....
