Govt to allow OMCs to store POL products

ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has decided to allow government-owned and private, local and international oil marketing companies (OMCs) to build go-downs for storing petroleum products including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and lubricant products for exporting them to other countries.
To enable this, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will amend the Customs Rules, 2001. According to available documents, the FBR has already shared the amended rules with the stakeholders for their input.
The FBR has asked the stakeholders to submit their proposals within 15 days. ....

AGP Recommends FBR to Ensure Customs Duty Drawback Should Not be More Than Actual Duty Paid
The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has strongly recommended the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to ensure that customs duty drawback should not be more than the actual duty paid by the exporter.
The latest audit report of the AGP on customs duty drawback for 2011 issued to the FBR revealed that timely issuance of duty drawback has been ensured through Rule 222 of the Customs Rules, 2001 which provides a timeframe for processing and payment of duty drawback. Three field formations of customs processed duty drawback claims with delays ranging from 30 days to 2,614 days. It was also observed that 296,388 cases involving an amount of Rs. 25,825.96 million remained unprocessed without recording any reasons. ....

FBR Allows Tourists to Import Vehicles Without Duties for 6 Months
The FBR has proposed amendments in the Customs Rules 2001 through a notification issued here on Friday.
According to the SRO.201(I)/2021, the “tourist” means a person not normally resident in Pakistan, who enters Pakistan for a stay of not more than six months in the course of any twelve months period for legitimate non-immigrant purposes.
