MAHUVA, India: The number of casualties from a major cyclone that slammed into India jumped to at least 87 on Wednesday as the navy searched for 65 people still missing, adding to the country’s woes as it suffered a record number of Covid-19 deaths.
Cyclone Tauktae, which pummelled the western coast late on Monday and left a trail of destruction, was the latest in what experts say is a growing number of ever-bigger storms in the Arabian Sea because of climate change warming its waters.
The defence ministry said Wednesday that Navy ships had rescued more than 600 people after waves up to eight metres (26 feet) high hammered offshore oil installations. But 22 bodies were also recovered while planes and helicopters were still searching for 65 workers missing from one of several support vessels that slipped its moorings in the storm and sank. ....

COTAR: ASF raises RCA tariff, despite decrease in number of accidents

The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) has increased the reference tariff of Civil Auto Liability insurance (RCA), despite the number of auto accidents going down, reads a press release sent on Wednesday by the Confederation of Operators and Authorized Transporters of Romania (COTAR).
COTAR expresses its concern regarding the increase in the RCA reference tariff, published by ASF. While the insurance companies from other countries have refunded drivers a part of the RCA price, charged in advance, based on the traffic restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the low traffic values, Romania has increased the RCA price, despite the number of accidents going down, the press release sent by the Employer organization says. ....

Impact of lower generation of E-way bill can be seen in the GST collection
Daily average E-way bill generation in May dipped to 12.15 lakh against over 19.58 lakh in April. The impact of this will be seen in the GST collection for May, data for which will be formally released on July 1.
Experts feel that even collection in May ( basically for all the transactions done in April) will be between ₹ 90,000 and ₹1.10-lakh crore or even lower. Even RBI has estimated lower collection in coming months. Earlier this month, the Finance Ministry said collection in April had reached an all-time high of ₹ 1.41-lakh crore. ....
