Nigeria to cut Personnel cost, merge MDAs
Worried by persistent low revenue, the federal government is to cut personnel cost and merge MDAs.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, gave this indication at the on-going âNational Policy Dialogue on Corruption and Cost of Governance in Nigeriaâ held in Abuja, yesterday.
The programme was organised by the Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC). According to the minister the government would also remove some items from the budget , going forward, to reduce government expenditure.
She said that current government spending has become imperative because, âWe still see government expenditure increase to a terrain twice higher than our revenue. ....

The Lagos State Government has announced that it has placed 4,000 unemployed graduates on N40,000 monthly salary for a period of 6 months.
The initiative which is implemented through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment’s Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP) is intended to address the challenge of unemployment among unemployed graduates in Lagos State.
This disclosure was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke, during the 2021 Ministerial Press Briefing in commemoration of the Second Year in the Office of Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu.
Arobieke said the programme, which was planned to last for six months, was meant to expose interns to a particular job, profession or industry and enhance networking. ....

The federal government is set to cut personnel costs and merge Ministries, Department, and Agencies (MDAs) as revenue levels have declined partly due to the fluctuating oil prices recorded in 2020, as well as the Covid-19 pandemic.
This hint was given by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, at the ongoing ‘National Policy Dialogue on Corruption and Cost of Governance in Nigeria’ in Abuja.
The program, according to Vanguard, was organized by the Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC).

FG Proposes Salary Cut for Civil Servants

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Salaries, Incomes & Wages Commission (NSIWC) to review the salaries of civil servants as well as the number of federal agencies.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this Tuesday at the National Policy Dialogue on Corruption and Cost of Governance in Nigeria organised by the Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC).
She said government also intends to remove some superfluous items from the budget in order to cut the cost of governance in the country.
“We still see government expenditure increase to a terrain twice higher than our revenue,” Ahmed said. ....
