NMDC output up 65%, sales jump 51% despite pandemic, inoperative Donimalai

Public sector mining major NMDC has reported a 66 per cent jump in production to 4.57 million tonnes (MT) in March 2021, from 2.76 MT a year ago, and a 51 per cent growth in sales to 4.08 MT during the month of March 2021 as compared to 2.70 MT sales March 2020. Production and sales in March were the highest in the company s history. The previous best show was in March 2018 when the company mined 4.10 MT.
Chhattisgarh production in March stood at 3.98 MT as compared to 2.60 MT, while sales stood at 3.21 MT (2.41 MT). Mining in Karnataka rose to 0.59 MT from 0.16 MT, while sales rose to 0.87 from 0.29 MT.
During the year ended March 31, 2021 total production stood at 34.11 MT as compared to 31.49 MT, an increase around 8.32 per cent, while sales rose to 33.27 Mt from 31.51 MT, an increase of around six per cent. ....

Vedanta chief financial officer G R Arun Kumar resigns

Vedanta on Monday said G R Arun Kumar has resigned as chief financial officer (CFO) of the company.
The company will announce the effective date of relieving of Kumar and details of the successor in due course, Vedanta Ltd said in a filing to BSE.
The board has taken note of the resignation of GR Arun Kumar from the post of Whole-Time Director & Chief Financial Officer of the company to pursue career outside of the Group, Vedanta said.
Kumar has made invaluable contribution towards the company s growth and its transformation journey during his tenure of close to eight years, it added. ....

NGT forms committee to look into plea alleging illegal mining in Odisha

The National Green Tribunal has formed a committee to look into a plea alleging illegal mining and stone crushing in Odisha.
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel constituted a committee comprising officials from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), District Collector, State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Central Pollution Control Board and the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
The joint Committee may ascertain facts and also consider the view point of the affected parties. Based on facts found, the concerned statutory authority may take appropriate action, following due process of law.
The nodal agency will be the State PCB for coordination and compliance. A factual and action taken report may be furnished within three months by e-mail, said the bench, also comprising Justice S K Singh and expert member Nagin Nanda. ....
