Olivarez said the mega vaccination facility will help the country achieve its target herd immunity before December.
“Yun pong lugar na ‘yun, meron na tayong isolation facility po doon. Ang nag ma-manage po diyan ay yung ating DOH (Department of Health) kaya kung malalagyan natin ng vaccination center ‘yan, it would be favorable hindi lang po sa Parañaque, kundi po sa buong NCR (We already have an isolation facility there which is being managed by the DOH that’s why if we will also put up a vaccination center, it would be favorable not only for Parañaque but for the entire NCR),” Olivarez told DZRH News. ....

“Mr. Razon’s verbal abuse will not change the facts, the laws, or the science on environmental management,” Malilong-Isberto, the recently-resigned executive director of Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF), told the Manila Bulletin in an interview Sunday afternoon, May 9.
“In any case, I have tendered my resignation as trustee of Nayong Pilipino. The President is free to replace me,” she said.
A news report came out over the weekend wherein billionaire businessman Razon called the management of the state-run park “idiots” for supposedly prioritizing its preservation instead of making way for the vaccination facility, which would help save thousands of lives from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). ....

STRESSING that the Philippines is biodiversity-rich, but also among the world s biodiversity hotspots or those areas experiencing high rates of habitat loss, Sen. Cynthia Villar urged the public to be more vigilant against biodiversity loss, wildlife protection and conservation of their habitats.
What makes the issue even more important to our country is the fact that the Philippines is one of the world s 17 megadiverse or biodiversity-rich countries, which hosts two-thirds of the Earth s biodiversity, said Villar in her privilege speech in observance of the World Wildlife Day celebration last March 8. ....

Villar, who chairs the Senate Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, made the call as the country observes the 8th year anniversary of the wetland’s designation as the 6th Philippine Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention on Monday, March 15.
The Ramsar Convention or the Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty that recognizes the fundamental ecological value of wetlands. The Convention primarily seeks to curb encroachment on wetlands, its possible degradation now and in the future.
As a signatory to the Convention, the Philippine is obligated to conserve and protect the Ramsar-listed Philippine wetlands and their resources. ....
