Malaysia bids to attract travellers to Perlis through new online directory

Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN), supported by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), is building an e-directory for tourism products and services in Perlis, in anticipation of the reopening of the state to domestic and international travellers in the near future.
TPN is in the midst of compiling information on all the tourism products and services in the northern state. The e-directory is expected to be completed by end of October and onboarded to B2B portal Universal Pass, an initiative by industry players supported by Malaysia Tourism Council and Malaysian Inbound Tourism Association (MITA), shared Uzaidi Udanis, chairman of TPN and president of MITA. ....

88 Tourism companies, Homestays certified with Covid-19 guidelines

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8: Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) has successfully certified 88 companies and homestays with the Certificate of Compliance COVID-19 Adopt and Adhere Guidelines and relevant government standard operating procedure (SOP) at end-2020.
In a statement today, MPC said the certified companies included categories of travel agencies, adventure tourism operators, event management companies, event venues, homestays, and kampungstays, as well as tourism sites.
MPC through the Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) developed the initiative for tourism industry players in restarting and continuing their business operations and tourism activities in the face of the new normal.
MPC director-general Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said the guidelines were developed to support the government’s efforts in ensuring businesses comply with the SOPs in preventing the spread of COVID-19. ....

Ministry out to revive local tourism


PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 pandemic, which infected millions internationally, causing unprecedented border closures and travel restrictions, has left the tourism and travel sector in shambles around the world.
Analysts are predicting that when the recovery process starts, the travel and tourism sector may be the last to recuperate once the dust settles.
Ushering in 2021, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri called upon industry players to maintain their efforts in reviving the tourism sector.
Tourism industry players, she said, should continue introducing attractive packages periodically to maintain public interest.
They must also abide by the Health Ministry’s SOP in order to ensure the sustainability of the tourism economy. ....
