The government of Albania has annouced plans for launching the first tender for the construction of utility-scale on-shore wind power plants, which will make a major contribution to improve the country s future energy supply and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The tender, expected to be launched early in 2021, will be the first in a planned series of investments in wind energy projects and was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with additional financial grant support of EUR650,000 provided by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Matteo Colangeli, EBRD Head of Albania, said: We are delighted to expand our partnership with the Albanian authorities to start up the wind power sector, building on the successful experience with solar. TIRANA (Albania), December 29 (SeeNews) - Albania s government plans to call the first tender for the construction of utility-scale on-shore wind power plants, which is backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in early 2021, the bank said on Tuesday.
The tender is also supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) with a grant in the amount of 650,000 euro ($796,400), the EBRD said in a statement.
The auction, which will target 130 MW of total capacity, will see bidders propose projects ranging in size from 30 MW to 75 MW, according to a statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. ....

Swiss experts boost export potential of PH products

Experts from the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) presented insights into European Free Trade Association (EFTA) markets’ trade regulations, market access requirements, and market demand in a webinar entitled “Export Opportunities to Europe” during the National Export Congress last 2 December 2020.
The market study was conducted under the SIPPO, which is a longstanding, well-established flagship program for export promotion financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.
The studies show that coconut sugar, dried fruits, and fruit purées for fruit-based beverages or as ingredients for dairy, ice-cream, or confectionery as well as natural ingredients, which are indispensable components in food, cosmetics, and health products, have high export potential to EFTA and European markets. ....
