Malam Jabba scam: NAB disposes of case without further action

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) took three-and-a-half years to complete the investigation into the Malam Jabba scandal and the case was disposed of without any further action. NAB has directed that the case should be referred to KP Chief Secretary for an investigation into irregularities in the awarding of the contract.
The Malam Jabba scandal surfaced on January 7, 2018. The NAB chairman, after declaring it a classic example of corruption and misuse of authority, ordered an inquiry on January 9, 2018.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has approved to transfer corruption cases to the National Accountability Bureau.
He was chairing a high level meeting to review the performance of the CM Inspection Team. It was attended by Parliamentary Secretary Dinesh Kumar, Chairman CMIT, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Law Secretary and Secretary S&GAD among others.
CMIT s progress report for 2018-2020 was presented at the meeting. 1022 schemes were inspected during 2018, said the Chairman CMIT while briefing the meeting. A total of 1,137 development schemes were inspected during the last financial year.” ....

The size of the Punjab cabinet has reached 44 members, including 37 ministers, three advisers and four special assistants, the swearing in of two new ministers.
Lahore district has the highest representation in the provincial cabinet with five ministers, while Faisalabad is second with four ministers.
However, more than 20 members of the cabinet are on a “watch list” of the prime minister and chief minister for their unsatisfactory performance during the past two and a half years, according to sources. Some of the inactive members of the cabinet are reportedly known in government circles as “sleeping ministers”, the sources said. ....
