NADDC N7.5bn Illegal Transactions: No documents to back 'withdrawals', finance ministry says

It was a bewildered Senate that was on Tuesday greeted with silence by the permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Aliyu Ahmed over the illegal withdrawal of N7.5 from the Central bank account of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC).
The Permanent Secretary was represented by Teslim Akintoye, who said they have no record of the transactions and cannot speak on it.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts (SPAC) Matthew Urhoghide who was visibly angry said the Senate will use this fraud to test the will of the President on his fight against corruption. ....

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts Wednesday summoned the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Zainab and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, over the secret withdrawal of N7.5bn from the account of National Automotive Design and Development Council domiciled with Central Bank of Nigeria.
The first N3.8bn was withdrawn in two installments of N2.8bn in 2005 and N1bn in 2006, according to the report of the Auditor-General for the Federation being considered by the Senate committee, chaired by Senator Matthew Urhoghide. ....
