Islamabad : A spokesman for the Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR) Thursday said the government had made a number of effective legislation to ensure protecting rights of prisoners.
In a short span of time, the ministry made milestone achievement in protecting the rights of prisoners, spokesman, who is also MoHR Director General Muhammad Arshad told APP. He said the ministry had fully implemented the Criminal Justice Legal Aid & Justice Authority Legal Act 2020, which was aimed at providing legal, financial and other assistance to the poor and vulnerable segments of the society in criminal cases in jails. ....

The 13-year old was freed five months after Muslim men allegedly abducted, forcibly converted her to Islam, and then one of them married her.
A meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights was held under the chairmanship of Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar. The meeting discussed various issues of forced conversion and marriage and the death of a farmer in Lahore due to alleged police violence besides the murder of a member of the minority community. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights will hold a meeting on December 31 to discuss various incidents of human rights violations occurred in the recent past.
According to the agenda of the meeting, the members would take up three issues including death of Malik Ashfaq Langrial in the wake of a farmersâ protest in Lahore, murder of young doctor Tahir Ahmad in Nankana Sahib and abduction and forced marriage of underage Christian girl Farah Shaheed in Faisalabad.
The Senate Committee has directed CCPO Lahore, DPO Nankana and CPO Faisalabad to come for briefing on the issues which are: (1) Malik Ashfaq Langrial who was Vehari district finance secretary of the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad got injured in the tear gas shelling in Lahore and breathed his last at a city hospital on November 6. (2) Ahmadi Dr. Tahir Ahmad was killed on November 21 in a fatal attack i ....
