ISLAMABAD: Conceding to the opposition’s demand for revisiting 21 bills passed in haste by the National Assembly on June 10, Speaker Asad Qaiser on Thursday formed a parliamentary committee to look into the matter and address it.
The speaker has formed the parliamentary committee in consultation with leaders of parliamentary parties, said the NA Secretariat in a notification issued on Thursday.
“The committee, called the Committee on Legislative Business, will finalise its terms of reference on issues which would be referred to it from time to time. It will submit its report to the National Assembly speaker,” the notification said. ....

Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi has asked the concerned stakeholders to prepare a prototype of Electronic Voting Machine for presentation to the federal cabinet and members of the National Assembly after Eid-ul-Fitr.
He underlined the need for expediting the I-Voting process for overseas Pakistanis enabling them to register and cast their votes through the internet in a convenient manner.
He said that modern voting solutions such as I-Voting and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would increase accessibility, speed-up the processing of results on poll day and ensure transparency in the General Elections. The President gave these remarks while chairing a meeting of the sub-committee on Emerging Technologies on I-Voting, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. ....

Speakers press strong legislation, sustained political commitment to achieve sustainable population growth

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Senator Syed Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister of Science and Technology, has said that the government is fully committed to ensure universal access to family planning services and is working towards achieving a sustainable population growth rate in light of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decisions that call for stronger legislation and increased investment on family planning programs in the country.
He made these remarks while speaking at the third meeting of the Parliamentary Forum on Population here on Thursday.
The meeting was organized online by the Population Council with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which was attended by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Forum on Population, members of the senate, legislators from the national and provincia ....
