PM, services chiefs briefed on national security at ISI Secretariat Top Story May 25, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with his cabinet members and top military officials, on Monday visited the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Secretariat, where they were given a briefing on the national and regional security situation. Director General ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed welcomed the Prime Minister and other dignitaries on the arrival. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar.The Prime Minister appreciated the diligent efforts of the ISI for national security and ....

Daimary had submitted his nomination on Thursday in presence of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP state president Ranjeet Kumar Dass in the assembly secretariat. The Congress-AIUDF coalition had not put any candidate for the speaker s post. With no other nomination, pro-tem Speaker Phani Bhusan Choudhury announced Daimary as the new speaker and handed over the charge to him. Govt opening up top secretariat posts for experts from private sector Top Story May 9, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The government is opening up top secretariat positions, so far reserved for civilian bureaucrats from various cadres, to technical experts from the private sector as well as from within the government. Informed sources say that the cabinet committee on institutional reforms has already firmed up its proposal to bring the best talent to top secretariat positions to ensure better policy-making instead of leaving these positions for the same set of bureaucrats who join the civil service through the CSS competition. “The aim is to encourage this talent to work for the government,” an official source says, adding that in this era of specialization, our capacity is being impaired as officers from generalist cadres occupy all the top positions in the secretariat despite lack of performance in most cases. ....
