Inflation statistics from the last quarter released by the Bureau of Statistics gives rise to a renewed fear of worldwide inflation.
Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood said part of the 0.9 per cent quarterly increase inflation is “manufactured by the government” and its stimulus, as well as the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Mr Greenwood pointed to the free childcare subsidy offered by the government in the middle of the pandemic, which then “suddenly was charged” and therefore inflationary.
“On top of that, even little things like the price of used cars have gone through the roof because there’s no supply of brand-new cars because of coronavirus disrupting it,” he said. ....
