Daily Times April 29, 2021 A police official was killed in a blast targeting a police vehicle in Balochistan’s Qilla Abdullah district on Wednesday. A remote-controlled bomb planted to a motorcycle in main market of Qilla Abdullah exploded as a police mobile van was passing by it. At least three other people, including a police official, were injured in the bomb attack. Police and Levies personnel rushed to the scene of the incident as the powerful explosion rocked the area. Law enforcement initiated an investigation and gathered evidence from the site of the attack. The bodies and the injured were moved to a nearby hospital. The incident comes as Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Quetta on Wednesday where he inaugurated various development projects and held a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) provincial leadership. ....
Two people who died in the attack reportedly worked as security guards at the hotel. According to officials quoted by local media, all guests at the hotel were safe. Soon after the bomb attack, the Taliban, a militant group known as Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), issued a statement taking responsibility and stating that their target were police officials. However, initial reports claimed China’s ambassador, Nong Rong, was the target. He was staying at the hotel but was not present at the time of the blast, Pakistan’s interior minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, said, according to Reuters. The Pakistani Taliban did not mention the Chinese ambassador in its statements. ....

National April 24, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Sarina Isa, spouse of Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Friday questioned the non-implementation of the recommendations made in the Quetta Inquiry Commission Report, issued in 2016, on terrorist attacks in the provincial metropolitan city of Balochistan. In an open letter sent to President Dr Arif Alvi, Ms Isa said had the recommendations of the Quetta Inquiry Commission report been implemented, the April 21 terrorist attack in Serena Hotel in Quetta, and others, including the attacks on the Hazara community, might not have taken place. She said that the injured were assisted by volunteers and shifted to hospitals in NGOs ambulances. “Army ambulances should also have been deployed, and all the more so since the hotel is situated in a cantonment area”, she added. ....
