Sindh, Punjab water share further increased
Irsa asks Wapda to appoint inspectors at nine key locations in two provinces

A day after reversing its earlier decision to reduce water shares of Punjab and Sindh amid protest by the latter, the water regulator has further increased the water shares of the two largest provinces of the country to 106,000 cusecs and 115,000 cusecs respectively.
The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has also asked the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) to appoint inspectors – technical officials – at nine key locations in Punjab and Sindh in line with an instruction of the Ministry of Water Resources.

The District South and District Korangiâs administration took action against violators of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Tuesday.
In Korangi No. 2, the Eid shopping continued despite the nine-day lockdown put in place by the Sindh government on Sunday to prevent a surge in Covid-19 cases during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Later, the assistant commissioner of the area, however, sealed the market when the news of violations flashed on TV screens. âWhen we reached the market, shopping was going on,â the assistant commissioner of the area, Imtiaz Mangi, said, adding that shopkeepers thought that if they were fined and once they had paid the fine, they could open their shops. âThat is why, this time we have completely sealed the market.â
KARACHI: A strong field of 13 horses have entered the fray in the Labour Day Cup which figures prominently in a five-race card drawn for the Gymkhana race meeting being held at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
The Labour Day Cup has been classified under combined scale order of VI and VII and will be run over four furlongs. It is the fourth race in racing order.
Half-a-dozen horses are in contention for the feature event scale order I, II and III that will also be contested over four furlongs. It is the last race on day’s card.
Horses of lower classification who used to be among those who also ran will experience a new two-and-a-half furlong race for the first time. It has been designed to provide incentive to the owners.
